When Laith and I started our wellness journey, we knew our plan had to be reasonable, not too restrictive, and sustainable over the long term. We both want to live our best life together for as long as the Good Lord gives us and in the best possible health. We have a passion for learning, especially when it comes to health, so it was easy for us to dive into this exciting opportunity to improve and gain some control over our health.
Almost immediately, we both experienced increased well-being, weight loss, cognitive improvements, and body shape changes. One of the first changes to our lifestyle was to eliminate sugar from our diet as much as possible. We replaced it with Monk Fruit + erythritol, and while it took a little adjustment to the slight aftertaste, it has become a suitable sugar substitute that we use in our coffee, keto ice cream, and recipes. We also eliminated all processed food and most carbs.
Our lifestyle consists of eating whole organic foods that are good for us, most recipes are easy, quick, and deliciously satisfying due to the increased fat and protein that leaves us satiated over the course of the day. Cravings and hangry moments are a thing of the past. We eat more slowly and savor every bite of food without the ravenous appetite we once had.
While not all food plans will work for everyone and not everyone has the same routines, one thing is for sure is that the type of food we put in our bodies matters for everyone. We knew from the onset that whatever path we chose to follow had to be one we could do daily for the rest of our lives. I'm sure there will be tweaks along the way, but the journey is so much easier knowing that this isn't a "diet" but a lifestyle that we get to define what that is.
