(Classic Texture, No Added Sugar)

YouTube Video: Watch Here
There’s a reason peanut butter cups are so satisfying, it’s not just the flavor, it’s the texture. That soft, slightly crumbly center is what makes them feel like the real thing.
Most homemade versions miss that and end up with straight peanut butter inside chocolate. This version fixes that. With a simple adjustment to the filling, you get that classic bite using cleaner ingredients and no added sugar.
These are perfect on their own, and they also work really well chopped into ice cream as a mix-in.
Ingredients
1 cup zero sugar dark chocolate chips (or chopped bar)
1/2 cup organic peanut butter (creamy, no sugar added)
2–3 tbsp organic peanut butter powder
1–2 tbsp powdered allulose (blend to a fine powder if needed)
1–2 tsp organic coconut oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)
Pinch of sea salt (optional)

Instructions
Melt the chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate in 20–30 second intervals, stirring between each until mostly melted. Add coconut oil (if using) and stir until smooth and glossy.
Create the base layer: Spoon a thin layer of chocolate into silicone molds, just enough to coat the bottom. Freeze for 5–10 minutes until set.
Make the filling: In a bowl, mix peanut butter, peanut butter powder, and powdered allulose until smooth and thick. The texture should be soft but slightly firm—not runny.
Fill the cups: Spoon the peanut butter mixture into each mold, pressing gently into place and leaving a small border around the edges.
Seal with chocolate: Cover with the remaining melted chocolate and smooth the tops.
Set and remove: Freeze for 15–20 minutes until fully firm. Remove from molds and store in the refrigerator or freezer.
Tips
Getting the classic texture: The combination of peanut butter, peanut butter powder, and powdered allulose creates that soft, slightly crumbly center. This is what separates these from typical homemade versions.
Adjusting consistency: If the filling feels too soft, add a small amount of peanut butter powder. If it feels too dry, mix in a little more peanut butter.
Chocolate handlingIf your chocolate starts to thicken while working, reheat it in short 10–15 second intervals and stir until smooth.
For ice cream mix-ins: Freeze completely, then chop into small pieces before adding to your churned ice cream.
A Note on Flexibility
Smarter Treats are meant to be adaptable. If you don’t have powdered allulose, you can use another finely ground sweetener or even traditional powdered sugar if that better fits your lifestyle. The goal is to create a version you enjoy while keeping the texture and overall experience intact.
Final Thoughts
This is one of those recipes where a small adjustment makes a big difference. You still get the familiar peanut butter cup experience, but with ingredients that better align with a balanced, lower-sugar lifestyle.
